Week of 11/17/2014

8th grade Reading

We are working on sequencing and should start and finish a how-to writing piece this week.  The only homework this week is to read 10 minutes a night and fill in the reading log for four nights.

8th grade Language Arts

We are working on assessing what we know, so that we can see what we need to learn yet for the mid-term.  We started a vocabulary unit this week which will be assessed next Tuesday, Nov. 25.  Students should study vocab daily.

Reading Homework

Every week students are expected to read 10 min. per day for at least four out of five days during the week.  They must then write two or three sentences summary of what they have read.  Students may read a novel, a magazine, or even the newspaper, but they must write a summary about whatever they have read.  I will collect them the following Monday.

Introduction

My name is Delia L. Edling.  I have been teaching since 1999.  I have my undergraduate degree in Special Education and Elementary Education and my masters in Alternative Education.  I spent nine years teaching full time and then gave up my job to spend time with my daughter while she was young.  Now I am back in the classroom and very happy to be here.  Please don't hesitate to call if you have any concerns about your child.  Just call the school and ask for extension x2789.
