We will get as far as we can in class.  I usually do not like to give homework over the weekend; however, with the way things went this week, we wound up finishing the chapters rather quickly.  We will be having our first quiz on Hoot on Monday.   It will be covering the plot of Hoot; as weel as, vocabulary.

Period 4B- We worked on research for persuasive pieces in the library today.  HW:  Wonder vocab Multiple choice

Period 6- We did an activity on an escape route for Anne from Amsterdam, Netherlands to an non-occupied country.  HW:  Be creative.  Journal an escape route that is 5 steps long.  They do not need to be in sentence form, just five steps.  You can not just say... I would take a boat to England.  Give me more detail.  FIVE STEPS!!!!!!!

Long Term Reading Homework for Third Marking Period

Period 2 Mrs. Brodhead

Students are to read a novel of their choice by the end of the marking period.  Using the persuasive writing techniques that we are talking about they need to write a "Yougotta Award" for their book.  It is a persuasive essay on why I need to read that book.

Period 6B Mrs. Edling's Reading 8

1)  Choose a book that you like:  complete a book report, take the AR quiz (and pass it), make a diorama, or any other option you discuss with me to show me that you read this book.

2)  Read a newspaper article every week and write a 50-100 word summary of it. (9 total for the marking period)-  MUST be spread throughout the marking period.

Period 2- Ms. Brodhead's class- today we finished up a spelling packet and did a couple of activities on reading instructions; no homework

Period 3- Ms. White's American History 8- working on a Constitution project; students must finish the table at the top of page 2 for homework tonight if not finished in class

Period 4B- My English 8 - Wonder Sect. 1 vocab/spelling test tomorrow.  Students must be able to spell vocab words as well as know their definitions.  Reviewed personal pronouns again.  Complete Personal Pronoun Worksheet #3 if not completed in class.  Finish pg. 15 Venn Diagram from Persuasive workbook for homework.

Period 6- My Reading 8- Read a Scholastic article on Syrian refugees and answered questions. We did not get finished so Question #4 was homework.
